You Have Light

I know that all these philosophers talk about people being like candles. About how we each have to allow our lights to shine and not hide who we are and so somehow, when you’re told you have light you think it’s normal.

It’s not.

You have light. Blinding light.
The magnificence of your light can never be truly estimated because it seems to shine brighter with each passing day.
White, beautiful, blinding light.

When people look at you, they can’t truly see you. Some try to wear shades. But believe me, if you think shading could minimize the intensity then I have failed in my description of your light.

Of course, they can see you, vaguely. Almost like a dream. But they can see you, which I am guessing is better than nothing.

People see the light which constitutes your make up and consumes your being, leaving them with emotions they never thought they could feel.
However, each person and how they translate these new things they are feeling. Others feign indifference in order to live in the same environment as you. Some downplay it so they can pretend they have adjusted to the light of you. There are those who hate and others who love. Very opposite. Very strong. And sometimes, most times, easily confused.

But now, you’ve reached the point in your life where you assume they all don’t mean well. Not that I blame you.
After all, if I was the one getting funny looks whenever I smiled at a person, I’d also probably become a cynic.
But I can’t blame them either. How else does a person react to blinding light that cannot be turned off, if not by looking away or squinting?

Did I mention how your light seems to shine brighter when you smile or laugh? The radiation can kill cancerous cells free of charge!

But how can you know. You are vaguely aware of this light which is made of you. You refuse to understand the intensity, and the inevitable effects.

I don’t understand why nobody ever explained it to you. This beauty that requires understanding to be appreciated. This beauty that is of you, in you… Is you.

I wish I had known earlier, I would’ve told you why the world was dark from where you were standing. Why love was just a theory on which writers based their books. Why people can’t stay around you for long. Why the harder you try, the farther they go.
I would’ve explained it all to you.

Then perhaps…

Today, after another long day of conflicting emotions (probably like any other day) you walk to your window.

And jump for you have light.

Happiness Is Yours To Create

Everyone wants to be happy and fulfilled
Having all the luxuries as if life were a romantic novel
But have you ever asked yourself what it takes to find true happiness?
Some may think it's all about making people do what they want
Others may also  think it's an aspect where work has to be fulfilling or having riches than anyone else
Some even think it all boils down to recognition and rewards, not forgetting the love one expects from others
We all get this wrong sometimes
We often than not demand too much of life leaving ourselves out
We sometimes go to the extent of setting strict criteria for what will make us happy.
But why not consider these facts;
The same attitude spoils many relationships
Not everyone is perfectly neat, charming, beautiful inside out, funny or attentive all the time
For these qualities do not guarantee a perfect relationship
Our demand for love and friendship is often reflected on the happiness we all crave for
It's only easy to be happy when we find happiness in small doses
And most importantly, if you set impossible criteria for happiness, it will be all but impossible for you to be happy
And for true happiness, it's best to look within yourself rather than rely on others or the world around you.

This Is Life

This is life, new and strange.
Strange because we fear it,
And new because we keep our eyes turned from it.
Men can starve from a lack of realization as much as they can from a lack of bread.
Men can live right or bad,
But exactly the same thing will happen to all of us.
Every sunrise and sunset makes us guilty of our subversive actions.
So be smart and learn what to do and when to do it.
Life is hard,
Yes, but there is time portioned out for everything.

This is life, live in cramped limits.
Expressing itself not in terms of our good and bad,
But in terms of its own fulfillment.
Men are men and life is life,
So we must deal with them as they are.
And if we want to change them,
We must deal with them in the form in which they exist and have their being.
We sometimes try to know more not knowing we are hurting ourselves.
We also go to the extreme of understanding everything,
Putting ourselves in intense suffering.
Nothing on earth is worth the trouble.

This is life, the best in life.
Every movement of our body is an unconscious protest.
Every desire, every dream, no matter how close or personal,
Is a plot or a conspiracy.
Every hope is a plan for resurrection.
Every glance of the eye is a threat.
For the fastest runners do not always win the race.
Wisdom, intelligence and skills don't always make us rich, popular and healthy.
We each have our share of lack.
Sharpen your axe and be smart.
Try to believe in yourself.
For every time you try to find a way to love,
Your own mind stands in the way.
When your feelings drag you forward,
And your mind full of what others say about you,
It tells you to go back.
Stand firm in whatever you strongly believe in.
While there is life, there is hope.
Nothing is new under the sun.
For whatever happens has happened before
